This week
This week I went outside and had my mom come with me. I tried to do my front flip but I couldn't get myself to do it. I have never had this happen to me but it did. I sat there for 30 minutes trying to get myself to do it and I just couldn't. I am sad that I didn't achieve all my goals but I did achieve 2 out of the 3 so that does make me feel better. This project has been great for me because I got to do new things and push my body to the limit. This is truly the best project I have ever done in my life. Perseverance At the start of this project Mr. Barker warned us about wanting to give up or quit. At the time I didn't think this would be a problem but it was. About 7 weeks in I wanted to give up, but I am proud of myself for not and continuing to work on my flipping Journey!

This week I tried to work on my front flip a little bit. The front flip the the last thing I am trying to do. I didn't have much success with it this week the only thing I did was get a mattress and jump on it and try to do a front flip. I did have success with this but I can't bring myself to do it on the ground. This is a little diffrent for me because I am not usually scared to do any flip that I try. I think it is because I am not going in a backwards motion and I am having to go forward and it is just something I am not use to doing. In the summer when I am on a diving board or a trampoline I have always been more comfortable with backflips rather then front flips. I am going to continue to try to do the flip and hopefully complete all of my flips.
This week
This week was thanksgiving break, which means we have Monday and Tuesday of school then we are out for thanksgiving break the rest of the week. On Tuesday we had genius hour during this time I did test corrections and didn't even think about genius hour. I guess that same mentality was in my head that whole week because I didn't do squat for genius hour this week. The only thing I did was one back flip and that was it. I honestly do think this long break was good for me because I saw myself getting kinda tired of it. Mr.Barker did worn me about losing interest in the things that his students picked and it happend to me this week, but having that week where I didn't do anything will be beneficial to me in the long run because it gave my brain a break now I am ready to do flips again Progress I didn't do anything this week but the one back flip that I did my family for Maryland saw me do it. So that was pretty cool to see how all my hard work is paying off. M grandma was so impressed with me and so was my aunt and uncle. I told them that I learned how to do it because of a school project and they thought that it was super cool that I was able to learn something that I wanted to do/learn for a school project. This week
This week was my eighth week of genius hour. This means I have 4 more weeks until the turn in day. Every week of genius hour we have an hour in class on Wednesday to get some work done for our projects. I usually do work on some stuff in class, but it is hard because majority of the things I do have to be done outside of a classroom. The last two weeks of genius hour will be the best time to use that hour in class because I have to edit a video of all my flips. Luckily I will have people in Mr.Barkers class who can help me on the editing process to make the final video the best it can possibly be. Progress This week I posted the video of my first ever backflip that I landed. I am really happy that I got that done because now I can 100% focus on my front flip. I was talking to my mom this week about how I can practice the flip and not get hurt. We then came up with a great idea. We are going put a mattress on the ground and I will run and jump on that and do a front flip. The mattress will give me extra height so I will be able to rotate and land the flip hopefully. Then when I am comfortable with that I will be able to feel comfortable with the flip on the ground and see what I can do from there. This week
This week is week seven in my guineas hour project. We are a little over halfway in our project. This week I was pretty productive, but not as productive as I wanted to be. I had two things that I wanted to achieve this week and I only accomplished one. The two things I wanted to do this week were land the wall flip and post my first back flip on the ground video. I did indeed land the back flip on the ground but I still haven't posted the video of me landing my first back flip yet. I hope to get that video out next week. The only reason I haven't is because I have been trying to land this wall flip for so long, so when I think of stuff to do for geniuses hour my mind goes to wall flip and not posting the video. This Wednesday would be a great time for me to post it. Progress Last week I wrote about attempting my wall flip but not landing it. This week I practiced and I finally landed it. Now I have to start practicing my front flip which should take me right up to two weeks left in the project if I follow the timeline correctly. I am exited to see if I will be able to land the front flip with the few weeks I have left. The two flips I have landed have both been backwards, so I wonder if I will get super scared to try the front flip since it is totally different from what I am use to or comfortable with. ![]() This Week This week is the halfway point for my genius hour project. So the question I have to ask myself is, am I half way done with my project? The answer to that question is, I think I am in a pretty good spot but not quite halfway there. In the begging of my project I had a timeline of when I needed to have my flips done by. I am following the timeline pretty well but, I needed to land the wall flip this week to follow the timeline perfectly. Unfortunately I didn't land the wall flip this week so I am not following it 100% perfectly but if I land the wall flip this week I will be a little behind but definitely not something that is going to really interfere with my end goals. Progress This week I tried to do my wall flip again and didn't land it but got really close. The problem I have is the landing part. I can get around all the way but I cant land it. This week I am going to try to land it so I can move on to the front flip. The front flip is going to be the hardest flip to do so I have to leave the most time for that. I also need to have everything done 2 weeks prior to the due date so I can make my final product which is a video. The video will take a while to make/edit so I will need to have 2 weeks to finish that. With that being said I have about 4 weeks to do a wall flip and a front flip. I know I can do It! This Week
This week was the fifth week in Genius hour. I feel like it was my most accomplished week so far. I reached my first goal that I set at the beginning of the project. I also got my first video up on my videos tab on my website. This wendsday in class, I asked my friends to help me with the problem I have been facing in this project witch is technology stuff like editing and posting a youtube video. They helped me right away and taught me how to work everything so I wouldn't need to worry about this problem for the rest of the project. Progress This week I have almost perfected my back flip on the ground. Since I achieved this goal I decided this week I was going to attempt the wall flip. When I first tried to do it I got really scared and couldn't bring myself to try it so I took a break and came back the next day. I had my mom outside to help me. I was doing the wall flip at my house and I was doing it on concrete because it was the only place at my house where I could do the flip. When I finally decided to try it I almost landed it first try. From then on I had confidence and I tried it again but this time I over rotated and hit my elbow on the concert super hard. I totally thought it was broken right after I did it but it healed in like 4 days so this week I am going to try it again and hopefully I will land it and have plenty of time to focus on my front flip. This week
This week is the 1/3 of the way done mark. I had a goal that I set for myself this week and that was to land a back flip by myself. I knew if I landed the back flip this week I would be exactly on track of the timeline I gave myself to land all of the flips. I also knew that the next flip (wall Flip) builds of off the back flip, so If I landed the back flip this week and got it down pretty good it would help me tremendously for my next flip. Progress I knew this week I had to land the flip so on Tuesday I threw the flip as hard as I could and landed it. After I finally landed one I had confidence. After I landed that one I land about 80% of the back flips I do. I am so pumped that I landed the flip because I feel so accomplished. I had no idea that I could do this before this project. The best part about it is that I am totally self taught in flipping so everything that I learn I know that I did that and it is a great feeling. Next week I plan on trying to learn a wall flip. Hopefully I will learn it next week and be able to focus on the front flip for the rest of the project. Problems The problem I had last week is still a problem. I need to get someone who will help me with editing youtube videos and publishing them. I have no experience with youtube so I am going to start from scratch with learning the whole process. The good news is Peyton and Riley's project is youtube so they can help me I should have a video up tomorrow. This week
This week in class, Mr.Barker told us that we have been doing genuineness hour for 3 weeks. When he told me this I was not in shock because we still had a while until the project was done. Mr.Barker proceeded to say, "we are 1/4 of the way done. Do you feel like you are 1/4 of the way done with your project?" Progress I think that I am 1/4 of the way done with my project. At the beginning of the project I had 3 goals. Back flip, front flip, wall flip. I decided to start with the back flip. Back flips are known to be much easier than front flips and once I get comfortable with the back flip I will already know the motion for the wall flip. I have been practicing my back flip and I have landed it once with a spotter, but not by myself yet. The good news is that I am super close to landing it by myself. I think I will have the back flip landed almost consistently, and I will be able to move to the wall flip. Before I started the project I made a timeline of when I should have all my flips landed by. I am following the timeline pretty well so far, and I hope to keep it that way Problems The main problem I have been facing through out this project is making videos to put on the video page of my website. I have been making videos of me flipping but I need to figure out how to post them on you tube and edit them. My final product will be a video of my journey so I will need to get better at editing videos so the video will be everything I hope it will be. Luckily I have some friends that understand editing and making videos, so they can help me make my videos great. Once I figure all of the tech stuff. I should be able to make good videos and an awesome final product. ![]() This past week, I have tried to do a back flip on the ground. I had a mattress behind me to protect me from injury. My mom was also spotting me to prevent injury. The mattress really helped because I was not afraid of getting hurt. The mattress also helped because I was able to do more attempts to try to land it. Unfortunately, I never landed the back flip this week. The main problem I had was not getting the full rotation in. Most of the time I was landing on my knees or my stomach. So I decided to research online how to get the full rotation in. By researching for a bit I got an answer, I need to tuck harder. A tuck is when you bring your legs close to your stomach. By doing this I should be able to get all the way around and land on my feet instead of landing on my knees. While I was researching I found a good stretch to do so my tucks will be good. the stretch is called a tuck jump. To do a tuck jump you jump in the air, bring your knees to your chest and wrap your arms around your knees. This stretch gets your body familiar with tucking so when you go to do the flip your body will remember to tuck. This week I plan on practicing tuck jumps then I am going to see if I can land one. I plan on having 2 videos out this week on my video page. So make sure you come back later this week to see if I landed my first back flip.
